By mkb First of all, I'm sorry to hear about other people's bad experiences with the Miele W3033 washing machine. My own W3033 has worked without a hint of a problem for almost 3 years. I don't really ever give it's reliability a second thought because my last Miele washing machine was a tireless performer for the 12+ years in my last place. As far as I know, it's still running fine for it's new owners. Similarly my sisters - both with large families have used their machines at least once a day if not more for more than a decade. Those machines weren't the current W3033 model of course but speak to the durability of Miele washing machines. I'm surprised that Miele didn't fix the other reviewer's machines because they are famous for having really excellent customer service and going the extra mile. Perhaps the unhappy owners' machines were fixed and they didn't feel the need to vent any further or give an update. Equally most owners wouldn't think twice about leaving a good review, because they most probably take their washing machine's reliability for granted and expect 20 years service out of them. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Trust me, this is the best ever. By Alexander Nusraty This Miele washing machine is an utterly amazing piece of equipment. It is truly in a different class than any machine I have used in the past. It is about 2x as expensive, but in my opinion about 6-8x better. I've joked that my washer has artificial intelligence and changes its settings to match perfectly to the clothing I put in the drum (FYI, it actually does tailor settings to match the clothing to a degree). The settings are so customizable that just the other day I printed out the manual and left it on the machine because I felt I was wronging the machine by not taking a moment to click through to find the perfect setting. Here's a few summary points: initially I was skeptical, but the honeycomb drum really does reduce wear on clothing and provide a softer feel to the clothing; the spin cycle is so effective that there are times I take clothes out of the washer and wonder if I forgot to turn the machine on; it's SUPER quiet (the only sound I hear are my buttons and zippers occasionally hitting the glass window); I was VERY hesitant to purchase a front loader after living through my mother's experience with her Maytag but this is totally problem free (no gunk builds up in the rubber seals, etc.). The cycles do take a little longer, but that's a tiny price to pay for the best wash ever.Let me try to describe to you how this machine washes clothing. First, you have to imagine you were in the Renaissance era, at a river, cautiously yet thoroughly (because too much mechanical agitation damages the fabric) using a washboard with the perfect amount of soap. That's what this machine does. It literally goes: one turn left, pause, one turn right, pause, half left, pause, half right, pause, left left left, pause, right right right causing your clothing to just fall onto themselves like you were hand washing them. I'm guilty of actually stopping by the machine as it is running and just watching it work its magic. Best appliance I have in my home and I absolutely do not regret a penny of the purchase.Alright, that's enough for me, by now you think I'm an eccentric. I remember thinking the salesman was a bit eccentric when he was talking Miele up to me, "oh, he's just trying to make a sale." In reality, he was actually holding back. The W3033 is much better than he described. The truth is that if I ever move, my washer/dryer are the first items I'm taking with me. (
