By Robert Goyette I wasted my money six months ago on a Hoover Tempo. It had been recommended by Consumer Reports which I am now starting to suspect of being highly biased towards certain brands... since that Hoover Tempo was a piece of junk. I used it 20 times and the thing broke and became completely un-usable. I didn't even want to bother with the warranty. I'm never going to consider Hoover for anything. I had fears before getting it due to some mixed feedback including some that were poor (how can this be a CR recommended product...). It was in-expensive so that made me try it out. Pure Garbage. I decided to check out Miele since my mother in-law had highly recommended it. I checked product reviews and they were great (aside from the high price tag). This product is actually designed to last 15 years. I bet it will be the last vaccum I"ll ever have to buy. This product is heavy, it's built solid. If you need to do a lot of cleaning in stairs and you are not a strong person this may not be so appropriate. But for bare floors to carpet, this is unbelievable. I am so glad I got this. It also doesn't take me much time to clean up. It sucks dirt so efficiently and quietly, it's amazing. Filters may be expensive but who cares, this makes your house smell nice, very clean and quickly. Get the cheaper blue model. Who cares about how it looks; it's in the closet most of the time. I'm not going to be posing for GQ while I vaccum. I give my highest ratings to this product. 263 of 276 people found the following review helpful. An honest review from a Grandmother:) By S. L. Poel I just purchased the Miele Twist and I know how these reviews are important to me, so I hope that I can help someone esle who is considering the Miele S7 series (any model).I researched the motors as I was told by the salesperson that the "Twist" has a cheaper motor than the Salsa, etc. This is not true. They all have the same motor - look at Miele's website. The $100 difference is the filter and headlight. You can purchase the better filter and put it in the Twist and have the same machine without the light.I debated on purchasing off of the web, so I could save money. In my research I found that Authorized Dealers DO NOT honor the warranty if purchased from the web!!! So buyer beware. Upon purchasing and giving it a test run, when I went to use the hose attachment it came out of the machine before I could even stretch it to full length, which is really NOT very far, if you like to vac high places - forget it. The hose attachment is much like a dryer vent.Bottom line:The Miele Twist is VERY easy to vac with and because it is on a petite side it can get to many little places and the swivel future is wonderful. It vacuums well, however, going over the same area with my old Riccar, I could hear it picking up debris that apparently the Miele missed. I think this machine is good, however, I think there are others that might be better for the price. I rate it a 3 star. 59 of 59 people found the following review helpful. Miele S7210 vs. Dyson Animal By Green Girl I have a Dyson Animal and it has been my primary vacuum for the past 6 years. About 2 years ago the Dyson began to be less effective in vacuuming our carpets, which are low pile. We dust & vacuum several times per week as we have 3 kids, two huskies and a long hair cat, so having a strong reliable vacuum is paramount. To give you an idea of how much we use our vacuums, we vacuum almost daily during shedding season on both hardwoods, area rugs, stairs & carpeting. We have about 1600sf of hardwoods with a variety of rugs. Our household is a true test for a vacuum.I clean the Dyson - all ports and points - regularly but figured maybe it needed a "tune-up" as the suction seemed almost nil. It was better upon a professional maintenance but not as great as it seemed

By mkb First of all, I'm sorry to hear about other people's bad experiences with the Miele W3033 washing machine. My own W3033 has worked without a hint of a problem for almost 3 years. I don't really ever give it's reliability a second thought because my last Miele washing machine was a tireless performer for the 12+ years in my last place. As far as I know, it's still running fine for it's new owners. Similarly my sisters - both with large families have used their machines at least once a day if not more for more than a decade. Those machines weren't the current W3033 model of course but speak to the durability of Miele washing machines. I'm surprised that Miele didn't fix the other reviewer's machines because they are famous for having really excellent customer service and going the extra mile. Perhaps the unhappy owners' machines were fixed and they didn't feel the need to vent any further or give an update. Equally most owners wouldn't think twice about leaving a good review, because they most probably take their washing machine's reliability for granted and expect 20 years service out of them. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Trust me, this is the best ever. By Alexander Nusraty This Miele washing machine is an utterly amazing piece of equipment. It is truly in a different class than any machine I have used in the past. It is about 2x as expensive, but in my opinion about 6-8x better. I've joked that my washer has artificial intelligence and changes its settings to match perfectly to the clothing I put in the drum (FYI, it actually does tailor settings to match the clothing to a degree). The settings are so customizable that just the other day I printed out the manual and left it on the machine because I felt I was wronging the machine by not taking a moment to click through to find the perfect setting. Here's a few summary points: initially I was skeptical, but the honeycomb drum really does reduce wear on clothing and provide a softer feel to the clothing; the spin cycle is so effective that there are times I take clothes out of the washer and wonder if I forgot to turn the machine on; it's SUPER quiet (the only sound I hear are my buttons and zippers occasionally hitting the glass window); I was VERY hesitant to purchase a front loader after living through my mother's experience with her Maytag but this is totally problem free (no gunk builds up in the rubber seals, etc.). The cycles do take a little longer, but that's a tiny price to pay for the best wash ever.Let me try to describe to you how this machine washes clothing. First, you have to imagine you were in the Renaissance era, at a river, cautiously yet thoroughly (because too much mechanical agitation damages the fabric) using a washboard with the perfect amount of soap. That's what this machine does. It literally goes: one turn left, pause, one turn right, pause, half left, pause, half right, pause, left left left, pause, right right right causing your clothing to just fall onto themselves like you were hand washing them. I'm guilty of actually stopping by the machine as it is running and just watching it work its magic. Best appliance I have in my home and I absolutely do not regret a penny of the purchase.Alright, that's enough for me, by now you think I'm an eccentric. I remember thinking the salesman was a bit eccentric when he was talking Miele up to me, "oh, he's just trying to make a sale." In reality, he was actually holding back. The W3033 is much better than he described. The truth is that if I ever move, my washer/dryer are the first items I'm taking with me. (
